If you like Nori (traditionally used to wrap sushi), you'll love Laver or 'Wild Atlantic Nori', known as Porphyra umbilicalis. A slight variant of the Japanese Nori species with a remarkably similar taste, Laver is hand harvested from the clean waters off Maine's coast, dried, and packaged in its original unprocessed form (not in roasted sheets).

Nutritional Values

Of all Maine sea vegetables, Laver is the highest in B complex vitamins, C, E and protein. Also rich in calcium, iodine, iron, phosphorus, potassium, maganese, copper, zinc, and vitamins A and K.

Culinary Uses

Laver/Nori is wicked versatile. It's good in salads, soups, and snacks, or can be eaten right out of the package, soaked, or cooked. Wonderful alongside noodles, grains and vegetables as well as in soups, stews, casseroles, even pesto! Surprisingly, Laver can be added to desserts for extra depth of flavor and texture (hint: it pairs particularly well with chocolate and ginger).
